La Liga: Valencia slump continues

Valencia’s wretched start to the campaign continued as they suffered a third straight La Liga defeat at home to Real Betis.
Pako Ayestaran’s men came into the contest at the Mestalla having been beaten by Las Palmas and Eibar and remained pointless despite battling back from 2-0 down against Betis as Ruben Castro netted a stoppage-time winner for the visitors.
Ruben had opened the scoring for Betis in the 38th minute with a smart low finish from Cristiano Piccini’s pass and the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Enzo Perez was shown a straight red for a foul on Riza Durmisi.
Joaquin made it 2-0 but Rodrigo’s angled drive gave Los Che hope with 15 minutes left.
Three minutes later, Ezequiel Garay levelled when Betis failed to clear a corner but Ruben’s decisive goal …
