Pierzynski placed on DL; MLB future unclear

ATLANTA — A.J. Pierzynski is not ready to retire, but the veteran catcher will have the next couple weeks to ponder what the future might hold for him.
The Braves placed Pierzynski on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring on Sunday morning. This is a peculiar move given the fact that with his actions during Saturday night’s 4-3 win over the Mets, Pierzynski made it quite clear he had played for the last time this season.
