Cain may shut season down with hand injury

CHICAGO — Is Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain, who is battling a badly sprained left hand, going to shut his season down?
Possibly. Cain told FOX Sports Kansas City prior to Saturday’s game with the White Sox that it was highly likely he would shut his season down.
That would be news to manager Ned Yost, who said prior to Saturday’s game that he simply would go day to day with Cain, who returned to the lineup on Friday but was not in Saturday’s lineup.
Told of Cain’s comments about shutting his season down, Yost said he wouldn’t comment until he had spoken with the team’s trainers.
