Mariners activate Wilhelmsen from DL

OAKLAND — Mariners relief pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen was officially activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday. The addition of Wilhelmsen brings Seattle’s Major League active roster to 32 players.
Wilhelmsen figures to provide manager Scott Servais with another healthy option out of the bullpen. The right-hander, who was on the DL because of lower back spasms, also appears ready for a full workload if necessary. He threw a 25-pitch simulated inning Thursday and felt no negative side effects the next day.
“He threw good in the simulated game the other day, he felt fine yesterday,” Servais said of Wilhelmsen, who owns a 3.20 ERA in 22 appearances for the Mariners this year. “We’ll see what happens today, If the game dictates, he’s ready to pitch today.”
Despite appearing in three consecutive games, Servais also felt like closer Edwin Diaz was readily available Saturday, too. Diaz entered the day …
