Agent Mino Raiola has stated Real Madrid aren’t interested in signing his client, AC Milan’s teenage star Gianluigi Donnarumma. But Raiola insists the 17-year-old goalkeeper can become the world’s best at his position.

Meanwhile, Luka Modric is one of four big-name stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo, set to receive new contracts from Los Blancos. Moving to secure the futures of core stars is a clear response to Real’s recently incurred FIFA transfer ban, one prohibiting the club from registering new players until 2018.

Los Merengues shouldn’t expect to sign Donnarumma even then. Raiola doesn’t even believe the 11-time European Cup winners are keen on the precocious stopper, per Spanish radio station Cadena Cope (h/t ESPN FC’s Adriana Garcia): “There is no interest from Real Madrid in him [Donnarumma]. [But] If Donnarumma continues to grow as he is doing and if things go as planned, he is going to be the best goalkeeper in the world one day.”

Raiola’s words come after Donnarumma himself played down talk of a move to the Spanish capital. He recently made it clear how he remains committed to life with the Rossoneri, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t ESPN FC’s Jack Rathborn): “My objective is only to train day after day and do well with Milan.”

Real are already well-stocked between the sticks, thanks to the presence of Costa Rica’s Keylor Navas. Yet, if they were looking for a youthful understudy to the the 29-year-old, Los Blancos wouldn’t find a better one than Donnarumma.
