Plenty of MMA fans seem disappointed in the UFC’s decision to book CM Punk at UFC 205, viewing it as a disgrace that someone with no combat sports background is fighting in the premier MMA organization. While there is plenty to make fans pessimistic about Punk’s prospects, there is also plenty of precedence. Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Ken Shamrock, Sakuraba, Minoru Suzuki, Alberto Del Rio, Masakatsu Funaki, and David Bautista all were professional wrestlers before they tried their hands in MMA.
