O’Hearn among top prospect performers Thursday

Rafael Devers and Trey Ball led Class A Advanced Salem to a 5-1 win over Myrtle Beach, evening the Carolina League semifinals at 1-1.

Ball, the Red Sox’s No. 14 prospect, limited the Pelicans to one earned run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. The 22-year-old lefty fired 56 of his 95 pitches for strikes, walking two and striking out three.

Devers (Red Sox’s No. 3, No. 18 overall) expanded Salem’s lead to 2-0 with an RBI single in the third before putting the game away with a two-run homer in the fifth.

The 19-year-old third baseman is 3-for-8 in the series after finishing 2-for-4 on Thursday.

Boston’s No. 8 prospect, Luis Alexander Basabe, also went 2-for-4 in the game and is 3-for-8 in the series.

The rest of the best performances from top prospects Thursday:

• Gleyber Torres (Yankees’ No. 2, No. 19 overall) played a big part in Class A Advanced Tampa’s semifinal win over Dunedin. Torres, who hit .438 during the three-game series, went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored.

• Bradley Zimmer (Indians’ No. 1, No. 27 overall) broke a 2-2 tie and helped even up the International League semifinals with a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh for Triple-A Columbus. Zimmer went 1-for-3 and is 2-for-6 in the series.

• Brent Honeywell (Rays’ No. 2, No. 42 overall) threw well, but it wasn’t enough as Double-A Montgomery lost to Jackson. The 21-year-old kept his team in the game with seven strong innings, striking out seven and allowing two runs on four hits.
