Ryan Lochte ‘Locked Out For 10 Months & World Titles’; Penalty Mirrors Phelps’ Path

According to a report by USA Today, Ryan Lochte has been handed a 10-month suspension and will be barred from the 2017 World Championships in Budapest for his involvement in the gas-station incident that became an unwanted storyline of the Olympic Games in Rio.
USA Today indicated that Lochte’s suspension will run through June 30, 2017, and the 12-time Olympic medalist will not be part of the Team USA roster for the next version of the World Champs. The report also noted that the other three USA swimmers involved in the early-morning incident – Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz – will receive lighter suspensions. The suspension was said to be a joint decision by USA Swimming, the IOC and the USOC.
Following the conclusion of the swimming competition in Rio, Lochte and his teammates celebrated at a party and made a stop on the way home at a gas station in order to use a restroom. Lochte reportedly tore down a sign and several members of the team urinated near the gas station.
