Andrus lets blazing bat atone for early errors

SEATTLE — Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland turned 31 on Tuesday and got a nice present from shortstop Elvis Andrus.
“I’m glad Elvis had such a big game for me,” Moreland said after the Rangers’ 10-7 victory over the Mariners on Tuesday night.
The present delivered was pretty memorable. Andrus had three doubles and an upper-deck home run, marking the first time he has ever had four extra-base hits in a game.
Not bad for a guy who started the night by striking out with the bases loaded in the first and committing two errors in the first three innings that led to two unearned runs. He also flied out with the bases loaded in the ninth.
But in between, he was pretty special.
“Yeah, I feel really good, man,” Andrus said. “Especially after my first at-bat when I struck out with the bases loaded, I was mad at myself a little bit and was like, ‘OK, let’s go. I need to be more aggressive.’ That was my gameplan after that.”
