Miller credits Dodgers for hitting good pitches

LOS ANGELES — The numbers would suggest that Shelby Miller did not have a good outing Tuesday night, but the D-backs’ right-hander said that was more due to the hot-hitting of the Dodgers, who beat the D-backs, 5-2, at Dodger Stadium.
Miller (2-11) allowed five runs (four earned) on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Digging a little deeper into the numbers, Statcast™ showed that eight of the balls the Dodgers put in play had exit velocities of 100-plus mph and Miller got just four swings and misses.
“I felt pretty good,” Miller said. “I thought I made a lot of good pitches that they got hits on. I think they were pretty aggressive right out of the first inning. I threw what I thought were some pretty good cutters. I went back and looked at some of them and they were pretty good pitches. They just found some gaps today.”
