Shoemaker released from Seattle hospital

OAKLAND — The best news of the day was the release of pitcher Matt Shoemaker from a Seattle hospital, where he’s been since getting hit on the head by a line drive and subsequently undergoing emergency surgery.
Shoemaker will stay in Seattle at least one more night and could return to Southern California as early as Wednesday . The Angels open a homestand Friday night against the Rangers.
