Duffy reportedly to undergo Achilles surgery

ST. PETERSBURG — Matt Duffy is expected to have season-ending surgery “to address the lingering soreness stemming from his earlier left Achilles injury,” according to a report in Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Times.
The Rays have not confirmed the report.
Ideally, the surgery would alleviate pain Duffy has been feeling and would allow him to be ready for the start of Spring Training.
Duffy has seemed to be favoring the injury more lately, and he has seen less playing time. Monday afternoon he did not start against the Orioles, but he did play third base …
