Barney placed on family emergency leave list

BALTIMORE — The Blue Jays placed infielder Darwin Barney on the family medical emergency list Wednesday and recalled Ryan Goins from Triple-A Buffalo. Additionally, they optioned reliever Bo Schultz to the Bisons to make room for Wednesday’s starter, Aaron Sanchez, who was officially recalled from Class A Advanced Dunedin.
Sanchez had been optioned to keep his innings down, not pitching in a live game during his 10 days away from the club. As Toronto continues to monitor his workload, manager John Gibbons said he won’t be moved to the bullpen. Sanchez will remain a starter for …
