Miggy gets breather to rest sore ankle

DETROIT — Though Miguel Cabrera enters the final month of the season with his best health in a few years, his right ankle continues to send reminders of his injury history. The surgically repaired ankle was sore Tuesday night, prompting Tigers manager Brad Ausmus to rest Cabrera for Wednesday’s series finale against the White Sox at Comerica Park.
“His surgically repaired ankle flares up from time to time,” Ausmus said. “It flared up in Minnesota [last week]. It happened again last night.”
Cabrera underwent surgery to repair the ankle after the 2014 season. He dealt with soreness at times last season on the way to his fourth American League batting title in five years.
