A’s mum on reported Crisp trade, but laud vet

HOUSTON — A’s left fielder Coco Crisp has reportedly been traded to the Indians, the team he began his Major League career with in 2002.
The Bay Area News Group reported that the deal won’t be official until Wednesday, adding that Crisp left the visitors’ clubhouse at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday before Oakland’s 3-1 loss to the Astros.
“I’ll probably have more on that [Wednesday],” A’s manager Bob Melvin said after the game. “I’m not going to comment on that tonight.”
Crisp, who was the longest-tenured player on the A’s roster, was not in Tuesday’s starting lineup, and shortstop Marcus Semien took his place in the leadoff spot. A 15-year veteran, Crisp had been with the A’s since 2010.
“Sad to see him go,” A’s right fielder Danny Valencia said. “It’s obviously tough to see him go. You lose a good veteran guy, a good teammate. He was a guy that I was really close with and could bounce things off of him. I really enjoyed …
