Altuve could improve on his impressive 2016 statistics (.354 average, 22 homers and 26 steals across 585 plate appearances) when he tangles with A’s southpaw Ross Detwiler (5.74 ERA, 1.58 WHIP in 2016).
George Springer: Hitting leadoff, the outfielder may maximize his opportunities to reach base and score runs when he brings his lifetime .397 wOBA against left-handers (.338 vs. righties) into a matchup with the left-handed Detwiler (career 4.27 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) and an A’s squad that ranks 21st in baseball with a .684 defensive efficiency ratio.
Corey Seager: Hitting .320 with 23 homers and 87 runs across 559 plate appearances, the shortstop is coming down the stretch of a memorable rookie season. Justin Turner: From the heart of the lineup, the third baseman could go deep or drive in multiple runs when he brings his lifetime .827 OPS against right-handers (.699 vs. lefties) into a matchup at Colorado’s offense-inducing venue with the inexperienced righty Hoffman (7.58 FIP) and a Rockies squad that ranks 28th in baseball with a .673 defensive efficiency ratio.
