Braces For Jeanette Ottesen & Chad Le Clos As Vlad Morozov Shaves Mini-Medley Mark
- Updated: August 30, 2016
A 55.86 victory in the 100m butterfly was the first of two victories for Denmark’s Jeanette Ottesen as the post-Olympic World Cup series limped into Berlin. Ottesen was back at the helm once more, a 23.58 effort over 50m freestyle within an hour of her first win delivering the brace.
In both finals, Ottesen kept at bay the same opponent, Maddi Groves, of Australia, on 55.96 in the 100m butterfly and 24.32 in the freestyle dash. Bronze in the latter went to Katie Meili (USA), on 24.35, who earlier in the session was to be found in a place we’d expect to see her: at the helm of the 100m breaststroke in 1:02.92 a touch ahead of a 1:03.10 from Alia Atkinson (JAM).
The first session in Berlin witnessed a world short-course record of 50.30 by Vladimir Morozov (RUS) in the 100m medley. Having lowered the world short-course record to 50.60 in Chartres last Friday in the mini-medley, Morozov shaved the mark back a touch more beyond a 45.79 win in the 100m freestyle.
